Whether you like the veggie delight, tuna supreme or meatball marinara - Subway is there doing it fresh for you morning and night.

However, the New York City subway has less tuna supreme and more crowding, dirty cement and loud noises. It is, nevertheless, something you need to experience at least once in your life.

If you are like me and grew up in a place where there are no subways, you are fascinated by the tracks and the loud rush of noise as the train approaches the stop. You also wonder what it would be like jumping down and being chased by a giant werewolf, like in Underworld. That is the magic of the New York City subway - it is gothic, fast-paced and dirty.

I would suggest taking the New York City subway over the bus or taxi, as there generally tends to be no traffic on the tracks, save for the lost transient every now and then. Overall, it is a safe and fun experience when the train is zooming around under ground, though, much like everything else in New York, it is pretty unfriendly with your wallet at a whopping $6 per ride.
