One of the larger challenges of traveling in these Russian cities was trying to act like a native. They charge Americans double or triple the normal rates, so my friend had to do all the ordering, ticket buying, and so on, so they would not gouge me. In any case, I will never forget my first impression of the New York skyline, just like I won't forget the first time I saw the Pacific Ocean and touched its shore.
